The Middlebrook Farm that included several houses and barns ran along Deal Road from the present Route 18 to Route 35, and it included the land that is now the Middlebrook apartments and homes as well as the Middlebrook Shopping Center. The original farmhouse on Oak Knoll Road was built in the 1700s and rebuilt after a fire in the 1970s. Prize Jersey cows were bred on the farm from the 1930s to the 1950s.

This house on Roller Road was part of the original Middlebrook Farm. About 1940, it was built by a Wall Streeter and gentleman farmer, Laurence Leeds, around an old farmhouse. Leeds used an architect from the Williamsburg restoration to design the house.
